Introduction to GIS for Natural Resource Professionals

The goal of this 3-day course is to enable the students with the skills necessary to manipulate existing and create their own Geographic Information System’s.

  • Use ArcView GIS software for natural resources

     
    Description

    This 3-day course was designed to provide students with hands-on experience using and creating a GIS. This course focuses on biological applications and covers fundamental GIS concepts as well as, introduction to ArcGIS software, basic tables, spatial and attribute queries, table linking, joining, table summaries, map layouts, legend editing, labeling, metadata, and creating basic GIS point and polygon data. ArcGIS - ArcView 9.1 (ArcMap, ArcCatalog, ArcToolbox) will be the GIS software used in examples and exercises.
