Overview Field Ecology

Field EcologyThe Field Ecology Division (FED) was formed to organize the field expertise that exists across all divisions at CMI into one division in order to address the diverse field data needs of a variety of sponsors and projects. Personnel with the FED have a wealth of experience in designing projects, sampling, analyzing and reporting among a wide spectrum of taxa and across geographically diverse locations. Personnel with the FED have performed projects over much of continental United States and Alaska. In addition we have international experience in conducting field projects in Central America Nepal, Peru and co-manage Las Cuevas field station in the Maya Mountains of Belize.

Mount RogersSpecifically the FED has experience in:

1. Developing sample designs for surveying and monitoring a variety of taxa
2. Amphibian and Reptile Surveys
3. Vegetation Surveys
4. Vegetation Community Classification
5. Field Modeling and Mapping Accuracy Assessments
6. Mammal Surveys
7. Statistical Analysis of Field Data.
8. Avian Abundance and Habitat Analysis
9. Stream Rapid Bio-assessment
10. Benthic Macroinvertebrate Surveys

We are excited to be able to formalize our field activities and continue to provide skilled, efficient, and effective fieldwork capability. In addition, this consolidation allows us to make better use of our wide array of field equipment. Ultimately, this reorganization will allow CMI to offer sponsors and cooperators the best field assistance.
