With the need to move into a more usable system, we created a Permit Information System for Maryland DNR which increase flexibility and efficiency of the operation. We collected and reviewed all available information regarding fish and wildlife permits. We developed the forms and procedures for Falconry, Game Husbandry, Pigeon Control, Captive Reptile and Amphibian, Regulated Shooting Area, Retriever Training, and Taxidermy permits in a Microsoft Access application. The application records all the necessary corporate and specialized information for each type of permit, prints the physical permit, and provides summary reports of the data in the system. We analyzed both the system and the procedures the system supports and made recommendations for improvements for the future.
