Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma
Military Lands

The overall objective of the proposed research project is to support the plan revision of the Integrated Natural Resource Management Plan (INRMP) at Tinker Air Force Base (TAFB) using fieldwork and GIS/GPS technologies. This overall objective will be fulfilled through the following tasks:

  • Urban Forest Inventory - Complete a base-wide urban tree inventory which identifies and characterizes all trees in order to more effectively and efficiently manage TAFB's urban forest and in-turn improve overall forest health.
  • Grounds Maintenance Classification Mapping - Complete a base-wide GIS data layer of all improved, semi-improved, and unimproved grounds on TAFB. This map and accompanying acreage determinations will be used as baseline information to establish vegetation management reduction goals for the Base.
  • Oklahoma Penstemon Population Census - Establish baseline penstemon population estimates to determine current status and to facilitate monitoring trends in the future.
