The objective of this forest inventory was to determine the location of timber and estimate quantity by species, product potential, size, quality, or other characteristics. This forest inventory will also assist natural resource managers to assess other forest values such as wildlife habitat, watershed health and aid in future resource management decisions. Each forest stand of no less than five (5) acres within each compartment was located in the field with GPS equipment and recorded for import into Redstone Arsenal’s ESRI formatted GIS. An additional data dictionary was created to accommodate the attributes of the forest inventory.
